About Us

Frederiek Biesma School of Music is located in Kenmare, Co Kerry. Founder, Frederiek was born in the Netherlands and studied at Conservatorium Hilversum, Holland, completing with a Bachelor of Arts.
​

With her passion for music, Frederiek has been teaching music since 1976. She began first in the Netherlands and also worked for Tom Symons Studios, writing music for film and commercial production.

​

In 1994, Frederiek moved to Ireland. She has since gone on to conduct the Sneem Choir, and continues her teaching this present day. Many of her students have progressed into becoming professional musicians. Eg; Kieran Finnegan, Jordan North, Harry O'Connor, and Alex Ryan (Hozier).

Amongst some of her current students are several Musician of the Year Finalists in Killarney. Eg; Harry O'Connor, Julian Lain, Jildau Laumans, Kieran Finnegan, Michael Cullinan, Morgan d'Hrey,  Athouis Tsiopani, and Robin Sammon-Wharton of St. Johns National School, Kenmare who was just accepted to the National Concert Hall in Dublin for the Piano Masterclass Advanced level.

Along with her teaching, Frederiek also directs the Kenmare Community Orchestra, made up of all levels of musicians, both young and old whom are currently studying music, have studied in the past and enjoy performing, and those who are only beginning with a musical instrument.
